SquareScores keeps score for card games, dice games and board games, on the web at squarescores.com and in the SquareScores app. This page says what it keeps about you, who can see it, and how to delete it. The short version: it keeps what it needs to run a game and nothing else, and it never sells, shares or advertises with any of it.
What we keep
- Your account. Your email address and, if you set one, a password (stored as a hash by our sign-in provider), your display name, a username if you choose one, and a friend code.
- Signing in with Apple or Google. We receive the name and email address the provider shares — Apple can hide your address behind a relay — and nothing else. No password is stored for those accounts. There is no guest play: every seat at a table is an account.
- What you play. The games you start and join, the scores entered, the results, your groups, friends and invitations, and the ratings worked out from your results. Words you type into the word hat are kept for the game they were written for.
- Players without a phone. When you add somebody who has no phone, we keep the name you give them and their scores, and nothing else about them.
What we do not keep
No location, contacts, photos, health or financial information. No advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and no payments of any kind: chips in the poker ledger are points and are never converted to money. The camera is used only to read a join QR code; the picture is read on your device and never stored or sent.
Who can see it
The people at a table see the names and scores at that table. Members of a group see its standings and ratings. Your friends see your record against them, and a short line on their home screen when you finish a game (which game, and whether you won); you can switch that line off in Settings. Anyone you give a join code to can use it to sit down at your game. Nobody else sees your games.
Where it is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, which runs our database and sign-in, and the website is hosted by Vercel. They process it on our behalf to run the service and for no other purpose. We do not sell or share it with anybody else.
How long, and deleting it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, on the web or in the app. That permanently removes your name, your sign-in, your friends, your group memberships and your invitations, and the names of the players without a phone you added. The games you played stay in the other players’ results under the name “Deleted player”, linked to nothing that identifies you, so their scores and rankings do not change. If you cannot sign in, here is how to ask us to do it.
Children
SquareScores is not directed at children under 13, and they should not create an account. A child can still be at the table as a player without a phone, which is a name an adult types and nothing more.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date at the top will say so. Questions, or a request about your data: support@squarescores.com.
